In the increasingly competitive landscape of recruiting and retaining skilled employees, Freudenberg is focusing on grooming its own talent pool, making sure that once hired, high potential employees have a defined career path and the support to achieve their career goals.
Freudenberg rolled out its new talent management process in 2013 with the objective to establish a uniform standard for talent management across the entire Freudenberg Group which ensures comparability in the assessment process and broadens career development opportunities from individual Business Groups to the entire Freudenberg Group. The process establishes annual regional and global talent management conferences with participation of all Business Groups.
Talent management goes hand-in-hand with employee development programs. From training academies in individual Freudenberg businesses with curriculum that covers both technical and business related topics to regional leadership and mentoring programs and Group-wide development programs for top managers, opportunities for building skills required for next career steps abound.
"Talent management and talent development are major prerequisites for the implementation of our strategy and the future success of Freudenberg. That is why we take these tasks seriously and try to constantly improve our processes and open new opportunities for our employees. We want to make sure that they always have a plan for the next step in their career and never feel that they have come to a dead-end in their development. We also want to make sure that we have internal qualified candidates to fill vacancies when they occur half-way around the world," says newly appointed Vice President Global Talent Management Sarah O'Hare.
Freudenberg recently appointed Ms. O'Hare to this global position after she had held the position of the vice president regional human resources for North America. Confirming the truly global character of this function, she will not be located in the Freudenberg Global Headquarters in Wienheim, Germany, but will continue to operate from the Freudenberg Regional Center North America in Plymouth, MI.
