MODERN HYGIENE COMPONENTS
[ Size:L M L ]Data:2026-4-22 Edit: Hits:95
Absorbent hygiene products may appear simple, yet a typical baby or adult diaper contains around 18 engineered components that must function flawlessly during high-speed manufacture and use.Among the most critical are hook-and-loop fastening systems, which replaced pins and tapes by allowing repeated refastening with improved comfort. GOTTLIEB BINDER pioneered ultra-thin micro-extruded hooks and at INDEX™26, Head of Innovation Nick Carter will explain how new designs minimise line modifications while improving value. Developed with a machine partner, the company’s latest in-line welding technology enables adhesive-free fastening for the first time, reducing cost and cleaning requirements.
APLIX Marketing and Sales Director Olivier Blanc will present its SoftGrip system – a fully industrially compostable PLA fastening solution combining sustainability with stable unit cost.
In absorbent cores, fluff pulp remains vital. Finland’s STORA ENSO has introduced lower-carbon grades of NaturaFluff Eco for airlaid nonwovens and related disposables and Vice President Kirsi Seppäläinen will detail performance parity with bleached products.
Brazil’s SUZANO will showcase Eucafluff, derived from eucalyptus hardwood, offering improved retention, comfort and compression efficiency while reducing packaging and storage needs. R&D specialist Mariana Eleonora will describe responsibly managed plantations certified to PEFC and FSC standards.
Adhesives, though only 3% of diaper weight, remain essential. BOSTIK Sustainability Leader Christophe Morel will present bio-based debond-on-demand hotmelts enabling easier recycling without sacrificing speed. Portugal’s COLQUIMICA, represented by Corporate R&D Director Gisela Ferreira, will introduce a hydration-indicator adhesive using pH-sensitive chemistry for non-invasive monitoring in care settings.
Finally, BASF application specialist Edoardo Menozzi will explain how the Irgatec rheology modifier improves polypropylene meltblown fibre quality, safety and energy efficiency while supporting recyclability.
Together these developments demonstrate how modern hygiene performance depends on integrated materials science rather than any single component…
