The transaction is expected to close in the next two to three months after completion of the usual due diligence.Superba is the world leader in the manufacturing of heat setting machines for carpet yarns. Superba has developed a unique and performing heat setting system based on saturated steam. With 40 years of experience in the highly specialized field of yarns for tufted and woven carpet, Superba is providing advanced and competitive solutions with a complete range of machines. The product portfolio does not only contain steaming and shrinking lines,but also sophisticated space-dyeing machines. Superba machines are characterized by high performance, efficiency and environment friendliness, integrating the latest technologies interm of automation, information treatment and remote access. Superba will continue to operate from Mulhouse, France, the USA and China. Van de Wiele has for many years a leading position in the manufacturing of carpet and velvet weaving machines. The constant drive for innovation has led to several revolutions in the field of carpet weaving. Van de Wiele has extended its activities and is also offering tufting machines (Cobble-Van de Wiele), extrusion machines for carpet yarns, high-speed Jacquard machines, drives, yarn feeders and various other electronic components. - Extending our product range to get closer to our customer's needs.During the five day Open House held from March 16th to 20th at the GDM facility in Italy, our guests joined us from all over the world.  They had the opportunity to visit and experience the new advanced system of packaging, the SB50. The SB50 is one of the latest innovative projects currently part of the GDM product portfolio.The SB50 is a full servo integrated system capable to count, stack, compress and bag disposable diapers into pre-made bags up to 50 cycles per minute. The SB50 can be integrated into either new or existing baby diapers machines, training pants machines, underpad machines, adult heavy and light incontinence machines.The SB50 unit has been designed to satisfy GDM customer’s needs in terms of performance and technical requirements such as compactness, flexibility, accessibility and quick size change. With the SB50, GDM decided to extend its portfolio by offering the stacker and bagger as the answer for many Hygiene Disposable producers need to work with one supplier. GDM is now able to guarantee turnkey and high quality integrated solutions from converting to packaging.The Open House was organized as a special event for the introduction of the packaging unit SB50 to our customers and during this occasion they discovered the main innovative characteristics of this new GDM product. Some of the technological aspects of particular importance were the “Horizontal and Vertical Robotic Transfer Units” and the “Automatic Setting Compression Unit”, that ensure better control of the product transfer and a more reliable packaging process.The solution that GDM offers effectively eliminates non-value added operations and the manual procedures by the line operators. This result has been achieved with the significant contribution coming from the Coesia Group; the synergy among GDM, FlexLink, Hapa and the other companies of the group is winning thanks to the good connections that people constructed day by day, creating the right environment for technological progress and sharing of innovation.During the Open House, our guests experienced a demo show where there were also other interesting projects currently under development shown.The event also included a tour of the plant. Visitors were particularly impressed by the general organization of the production flows and processes and by the high level of innovative technology that GDM is able to develop. Other specific comments of approval were about the new Research & Development Area where new solutions are constantly developed providing competitive advantages to our customers.

 

ABRL launches baby wipes made from Birla Cellulose fibres

The famous ancient Silk Road and China's Grand Canal, the world's longest artificial waterway, were inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites here on Sunday.Jointly submitted by China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the application for adding part of the Silk Road, which served as a corridor for trade and cultural exchanges between Asia and Europe dating back to 2,000 years ago, to the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) list was approved by the World Heritage Committee at a session in the Qatari capital.The application consists of 33 historical sites along the millennium-old trade route, including 22 in China, eight in Kazakhstan and three in Kyrgyzstan. They range from palaces and pagoda sites in cities to ruins in remote, inaccessible deserts.It is the first time China has cooperated with foreign countries for a World Heritage nomination.Du Yue, secretary general of the Chinese delegation at the 38th session of the World Heritage Committee, said the approval of the application would strengthen cultural exchanges between China and the two Central Asian nations.He called for the three countries' close coordination to jointly protect and pass on the Silk Road heritage from generation to generation.At Sunday's session, UNESCO also included the Grand Canal, with a history of more than 2,400 years, in the World Heritage list.

Participants at the meeting said the 1,794-km canal, which runs from Beijing to Hangzhou in China's eastern Zhejiang province, is a valuable fruit of the Chinese people's diligence and wisdom, adding that its inclusion has enriched the content of the World Heritage.The Paris-based UNESCO oversees the system of granting World Heritage status to important cultural and natural sites around the globe.

3M Purification’s new purification technology platform, under the 3M Emphaze brand, is designed to help biopharmaceutical manufacturers achieve high product purity early in the manufacturing process, improving efficiency and process economics.The new 3M Emphaze AEX Hybrid Purifier, the first in a series of chromatography and membrane chromatographic products, combines three unique 3M technologies, advanced polymer materials, fine fiber nonwovens, and membranes, to deliver an all-synthetic clarifying product line containing both a novel anion exchange nonwoven media, and a fine particle, bioburden reduction membrane. The 3M Emphaze AEX Hybrid Purifier Laboratory and Scale-up capsules are now available with the Production capsules to be launched at the end of the year.“The 3M Emphaze AEX Hybrid Purifier is a multi-mechanism clarifying device,” said Tom Martin, Global Business Manager, Life Sciences Process Technologies, 3M Purification. “This product actually represents a new class of clarifying products, with an all-synthetic construction, substantial chromatographic capability, and a defined 0.2 μm pore size.”The product is an integral combination of two types of media (Q-functional nonwoven and membrane) that work together to provide unsurpassed product purity after clarification when using a single unit operation. The defined pore size of the qualifying membrane provides tremendous removal of insoluble particles well below 0.1 µm in size, resulting in superior turbidity reduction.At the same time, the high chromatographic capacity of the Q-functional nonwoven provides substantial reduction of negatively charged, soluble impurities including DNA and HCP. This combination of attributes allows the hybrid purifier to provide superior product purity before and, most importantly, after the protein A column, enabling a novel and simple post protein A mAb purification process.“We designed the 3M Emphaze AEX Hybrid Purifier to provide the highest possible level of product protein purity early in biopharmaceutical downstream process.
